Part of the SpringerBriefs in Economics book series (BRIEFSECONOMICS, volume 15)

This chapter reports activities after 2010, a time commonly regarded as the aftermath of the 2008 global financial crisis. Although sovereign debt problems still linger in the Euro zone as of late-2012, and Spain requested financial assistance in June 2012, we use 2010 as a cutoff point in order to be consistent with the reports of other country clusters in this booklet series. In what follows, we first introduce the general status of the European Union, information regarding multiple countries, and then the condition of each individual country.
