Resection of the Dorsal Sector: Segmentectomy 1 and Segmentectomy 9

Part of the Medical Intelligence Unit book series (MIU.LANDES)

This chapter details the resection of segment one of the liver which is usually regarded as the most difficult of the segments to excise. The extension of segment one to a newly described segment, segment nine, is also detailed. Because of the difficulty of its resection alone, segment one is sometimes excised in combination with segment four and this procedure is described. Similarly, the more major resections of segment one and left hepatectomy, and segment one and left hepatectomy, and segments five and eight are described, along with segmentectomy one and right hepatectomy, and segment one and right hepatectomy and excision of segment four.
