Abstract

This chapter provides a reference background against which the performance of the microelectrode voltage clamps can be appreciated. It is based primarily on personal experience gathered from extensive use of the sucrose-gap technique on lobster and squid axons and is compared with various aspects of this work using microelectrodes.
