Abstract

Life in the new Grenaa home seems to have been idyllic. They lived in a beautiful house purchased by Sine and Mimi on a visit to Grenaa. In the early morning Mimi picked strawberries and asparagus and in the afternoon she sat in the garden with her mother while Marie, the maid they brought with them from Copenhagen, served them tea. Viggo worked diligently at the harbor, building his first schooner.

As happy as your father and I were that Sunday morning November 15th, 31 years ago and how we thanked God for this great gift, you cannot understand now, but you will probably learn to understand it later.

  12. Artium is the Danish word for the degree qualifying the candidate for acceptance at the university. Three separate lines of study can be pursued in the higher school (the gymnasium, which corresponds more or less to the first two years of a U.S. college.): mathematics-science, classical languages, or modern languages.
