Atrial Natriuretic Factor in Animal Models for Hypertension

  • Chapter
Atrial Hormones and Other Natriuretic Factors

Part of the book series: Clinical Physiology Series ((CLINPHY))

Abstract

the discovery of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) has generated great interest in the field of hypertension. The important questions with regard to hypertension are 1) does a deficiency in ANF secretion or ANF responsiveness function in the pathogenesis of hypertension and 2) does ANF lower blood pressure in the hypertensive state. These questions are reviewed in animal models for hypertension.
