Abstract
This case discusses a possible pharmacokinetic interaction between bupivacaine and dexmedetomidine. Bupivacaine is a cytochrome P450 2D6 and cytochrome 3A4 substrate. Dexmedetomidine has been shown, in vitro, to inhibit both enzymes.
