Abstract

The patient was identified in the holding area and the affected extremity marked. He/she was brought into the operating room and placed in a supine position. General endotracheal anesthesia was preformed by the anesthesia team. The patient was given prophylactic antibiotics, a Foley was inserted, and the tourniquet applied over the proximal thigh. All bony prominences were well padded. The ____ leg was prepped and draped for surgery. The tourniquet was in fl ated to ____ mmHg. A midline incision was carried out starting 6 cm proximal to the patella, going over the patella and distally 1 cm medial to the tibial tubercle. The incision was carried through the subcutaneous tissue. The quadriceps tendon was identified and incised longitudinally on its medial portion.
