On the Origins of the Handbook

Abstract

The editors hope sharing the process of and motivation for editing an interdisciplinary handbook is likely to contribute to a better understanding of its contents. Therefore, this short chapter traces the origins of the book idea, explains our motivation, describes the selection process of contributors, informs about the review process, and introduces the notion of significant science.
