Abstract

Intuitively, in a category C, if there is only a small finite number of large (perhaps even of infinite cardinality) functionally independent sets of mappings, then the probability of a collection of mappings from \( \textbf{AC} \) to functionally entails one another is small. Contrariwise, if the number of maximal functionally independent sets of mappings is large and their cardinalities are small, then a collection of mappings from \( \textbf{AC} \) is less likely to all be from the same functionally independent set, whence mutual functional entailments of the mappings are feasible.
