Introduction to Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing

Abstract

This last section of the primer is designed to test your skills at cardiopulmonary exercise test interpretation. Five cases are included in this section. The data in each case are presented in a manner similar to the way examples of the various patterns of exercise limitation were presented in the previous chapter, including summary data, raw data from the exercise test itself, and the 9-box plots. Each data set is then followed by a test interpretation worksheet you can use to guide your assessment of the data and determine the primary source of exercise limitation. Explanations regarding the data and the primary pattern of limitation for all of the cases are then provided at the end of this section.
