Abstract
In light of the history of estrogen use and the studies of HT, up to and especially the Women’s Health Initiative (2002) results regarding orally administered HT, the prescription of transdermal HT combines the most efficacious use of estrogen replacement with the safest route of administration, and when prescribed to treat an individual woman’s menopause symptoms using bio-identical hormones, is the new gold standard for menopausal hormone replacement therapy.
