Abstract
The earliest works on algebra beginning with Al-jabr w’al muqâbala by Mohammed ben Musa AI-Khowârîzml (circa A.D. 825), from whence we get the word “algebra” (and the word “algorithm”), presented problems and solutions by numerical example.
