Abstract

We develop three constructions essential to the study of combinatorial group theory; namely semi-direct products, wreath products and HNN-extensions. We offer an internal and external viewpoint of all three constructions along with illustrative examples for each (the Baumslag-Solitar group B(2,3) among them).
