Abstract
What would an astrograph, mount, and charge-coupled device (CCD) camera be without their supporting cast? A variety of other components is necessary for the Astronomical Imaging System (AIS) to get the best out of these subsystems. These components are the “bit actors” that tie the three major subsystems together into an integrated AIS geared toward specific observing program goals. As the amateur astronomer needs more and specific data to meet the observing program goals, he or she begins to use diverse components that make observing easier, and they become more and more “indispensable.” This chapter discusses all these wonderful devices.
