Abstract

In the previous chapter, we discussed the nature and properties of waves in a uniform medium. In this chapter, we shall study waves in a nonuniform medium, wherein we allow structures with finite geometries, such as the slab and the cylinder, and the magnetic field to have discontinuities in density and pressure. We will also study the behavior of waves in twisted magnetic fields.
