Abstract
In this chapter, questions most frequently asked by the media and the public alike are responded to, so as to emphasize what the author considers as key elements if the gang problem is to be managed. Readers will note that the word “managed” has been specifically selected in order to give recognition to the structural aspect of street gangs, their interface with organized crime, and their transnational connections. To suggest that the street gang phenomenon can be eliminated, is to have failed to recognize what this text has endeavored to explain: New-age street gangs are borne of, and remain, intricately intertwined with personal networks of relationships.
