Abstract

Health care costs are the biggest threat to our nation’s long-term fiscal sustainability, and slowing health care cost inflation is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition of ever having a balanced budget again. The last chapter noted the cultural barriers to addressing health care costs, namely fear of death and our inability to discuss limits. However, we are who we are, and we must move ahead with a practical health reform strategy.
