Abstract
Evidence-based practice (EBP) now strongly influences medical and mental health practice, research and policy. In a relatively short time, it has become a major part of clinical training in all the mental health professions. Some authors even call it a “paradigm shift” in practice (Edmonds et al. 2006, p. 377). EBP has also become quite prominent in the social work professional literature. Several new journals have been started to share knowledge about EBP, including one in social work focused exclusively on evidence-based social work practice.
