Abstract

Ultraviolet measurements of planetary ices have been pursued since the earliest days of the space program and have proved useful and enlightening, particularly when combined with measurements at longer wavelengths. This chapter provides a brief history of spacecraft measurements of planetary ices in the UV, a review of laboratory experiments and measurements, and an overview of the significant results from solar system observations.
