Data centers are networked collections of computers that provide the computational resources for web-hosting, e-commerce, grid and cloud computing and social networking in a centralized location. Generic service platforms for this purpose include Sun’s Grid Engine, Google’s App engine, Amazon’s EC2 platform and Microsoft’s Azure platform.
