Abstract
The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is the encryption standard approved in 2000 under the auspices of the US government, originally for civilian cryptographic use. In 2003 the United States government approved the use of AES for classified and secret information. Versions of AES for 192 bit and 256 bit keys are approved for top secret information. The National Institute of Standards and Technology, which led the 3 year approval process for AES, has certified in excess of 1000 products incorporating AES [10].
