Abstract
This last chapter also looks at the performance of Web services at the server side, but with a special focus on specific aspects that can improve performance (like time sharing). The performance of various task assignment policies will be discussed in the context of time sharing computing systems clusters. Both traditional and recent task assignment policies are investigated. Realistic computer workloads (using heavy-tailed distributions) will be considered in the benchmarking of the various policies.
