Abstract

Almost any guitar includes some metal hardware such as tuning machines, a bridge, a truss rod and fret wire. Some instruments have significantly more than this. No discussion of guitar technology would be complete without a description of the hardware that is such an integral part of any instrument. For our purposes, let’s consider hardware to be the things that are mounted onto the structure of the guitar. Except in rare instances, these are things the luthier purchases readymade.
