Abstract
For ethical and practical reasons, most injury research employs observational study designs or survey research. Experimental studies, however, have made significant contributions to injury research both in terms of assessing injury prevention interventions and identifying injury risk factors. The following reviews experimental designs and some measurement strategies that have been applied to injury research. Examples from the injury research literature are provided.
