Abstract
Children with limb deficiencies are different from adult amputees and management requires a holistic approach to the child, taking measure of his or her abilities, functional deficits, social circumstances, and access to ongoing surgical treatment and prosthetic care. Future growth and development must be considered to estimate the projected limb length inequality, predict function, plan the timing of surgery, and choose the correct prosthesis.
