Abstract

This chapter covers 2 forces that slow our progress to improve healthcare delivery: (1) misconceptions about quality improvement (“myths”), and (2) nonadopter behaviors performed by nonadopters (“miscreants,” in its broadest sense of nonbelievers). Dispelling the myths to understand about how innovations actually spread through human systems is critical to improvement. Understanding nonadaptors who undermine innovation by their very nature is as well.
