Abstract
This paper is a contribution to the study of the use of the Online Dictionary of Standard Modern Greek, the Modern Greek Text Corpora and the Corpus of Greek Texts as alternative tools for teaching basic notions of Physical Education in accordance with the new trends for using ICT technologies as open learning and teaching environments. The data derives from a case study with a sample of pre-service elementary teachers who were attending the modules of Educational Technology and Specialization in Physical Education. Their responses were grouped in four categories: (1) the usefulness of the tools, (2) the difficulties encountered, (3) teaching philosophies and pedagogical beliefs, and (4) the educational use of the tools. Three of the above parameters are directly related to the TAM model. The analysis also revealed two pre-service teachers’ profiles: the techno positivists and techno skeptics. The study attempts to relate the aforementioned parameters and pre-service teachers’ profiles. Finally, it highlights the decisive role of the School of Education and suggests a new model, to be further tested, a model that attempts to explain pre-service teachers’ future technology use.
