Abstract

In the case of a disease, the family can be a burden or a resource and support system. The genogram helps the doctor to have a clear representation of symptoms, life events, and diseases across three generations. The different phases of the family dialogue are presented: joining contents and task clarification, disease and its impact in the views from different perspectives, treatment planning and conclusion. Communication techniques are: direct disease-related questions, indirect or circular questions, and hypothetical questions.
