Abstract
Northern summer equals quality time for the deep-sky observer. Our night-time window is now pointed towards the target-rich environment of the summer Milky Way (see Fig. 8.1). Here we find the richest star clouds, clusters and nebulae of our home galaxy. The nights are the shortest of the year, but they are warmer, too. Summer is without question the most comfortable season for stargazers, both novice and experienced.
