This month we continue with our voyage through intergalactic space in the direction of the north galactic pole. Our night-time window is illustrated by Fig. 5.1 of the previous chapter. The constellations of interest are Ursae Major again, Canes Venatici, Coma Berenices and Virgo. These constellations are strewn with lots of galaxies, which are all part of the Local Galaxy Supercluster. Figure 5.2 illustrates the featured galaxies in perspective with our Milky Way. But this month we will not only encounter faraway galaxies. On one of our trips we will visit a remarkable nearby galactic cluster as well, Melotte 111.
