Abstract
In this chapter, we focus on policies related to welfare and other low-income-related programs with a lens specifically on rural areas. A one-size-fits-all approach to policy may not benefit rural residents. In this chapter, we have described some of the problems that are endemic for rural low-income families, and we proposed some solutions. We have attempted to craft solutions that would appeal to a broad spectrum of political beliefs. Our suggestions can be seen as policy issues that are ripe for debate. Further research is needed to understand the complexities that are present with the suggestions made in this chapter.
