The Nanoboundary Layer and Nanovortex Core

Abstract

In this chapter, nanoscale fluid flow regions with intense vorticity will be considered – (1) the nanoboundary layer within 100 nm of a solid surface over which fluid is flowing and (2) the nanovortex core within 100 nm of the vortex center. In such regions, the kinetic theory of fluids must be used to predict the physical properties of the fluid, and the fluid has intense vorticity, or molecular spin.
