Abstract

Medical is a strong and growing market, particularly as the baby boomer generation enters old age. The industry projects demand for disposable medical supplies will grow 5.6% annually through 2012. Gains will be led by drug-eluting stents, prefilled inhalers, and syringes, as well as cellular analysis, nucleic, and blood glucose diagnostic devices. US disposable medical supplies was a $60.3 billion industry in 2010, with the largest players being Johnson & Johnson, Abbott Laboratories, Becton-Dickinson, Kimberly-Clark, Baxter Healthcare, 3M, Boston Scientific, and Roche.
