Abstract
Infections of the urinary system may involve the upper and/or lower urinary tract. These infections may be identified in urologic specimens submitted for cytologic examination, including urine cytology and FNA samples. The cytopathology of infectious diseases involving the urinary system are covered in this chapter, including male genital infections. Viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections in both immunocompetent and immunosuppressed individuals is discussed.
