Abstract

A plethora of infections may involve the skin, soft tissue, and musculoskeletal system. Almost all of these infections are amenable to being diagnosed by cytology using scrapings, split-skin smears, and fine needle aspiration. This chapter covers the cytopathology of infectious diseases in the breast, skin, subcutaneous tissue, deep soft tissue, bone and joints.
