Behavioral Momentum in Sports

Abstract

The property of momentum is one of the most fundamental principles of physics. The basis of physical momentum is Newton’s second law of motion, which states that the change in the movement of an object is inversely related to its mass. Thus, momentum describes the relationship between the velocity of an object and the mass of that object. This relationship is expressed as p = mv, where momentum (p) is a product of the mass (m) and velocity (v) of an object. Thus, the greater physical mass or velocity an object has, the greater is its momentum. Conversely, the greater an object’s momentum, the more opposing force required to alter the object’s momentum.
