Abstract
The most common severe auricular malformation has been diversely named “full-blown microtia” (Tanzer, 1974a), microtia: Type I (Ohmori, 1971), “lobule microtia” (Fukuda and Yamada, 1978), while I have associated the cartilaginous nubbins with peas in a pod, terming it “peanut” ear. Embryologie underdevelopment of hillocks 2, 3, 4, and 5 around the first brachial cleft has been described in Chapter 5. Remains of these hillocks are found as a crumpled mass.
