Abstract
Advanced-fiber-reinforced structural composites appear to be extremely attractive for cryogenic applications which require a high strength-to-weight ratio. Some of the composite applications currently being pursued are advanced versions of ac superconducting generators for airborne use [1] and lightweight superconducting MHD magnets [2].
