Abstract
Up until this point, this book has been mostly about immature memory behaviors. We have focused on acquisition of individual components of memory competence (e.g., particular strategies) or, at most, on a few components in interaction (e.g., some strategies rely on certain aspects of the knowledge base). In contrast, this chapter begins with an overview of fully mature memory behaviors and the multi-component articulation that characterizes truly sophisticated strategy use.
