Abstract
Few of the hundreds of studies of nonhuman primate behavior have focused on the sexual behavior of adolescents. Further, of the approximately 200 extant species of primates, only a relatively small number have been the subject of intensive fieldwork, and only a small fraction of these have been studied at more than one locale. In consequence, attempts at comprehensive reviews within the entire order immediately run up against some problems of comparison.
