Abstract
The cadaver for the coronal sections was that of a 59-year-old white male who died while on life support following an acute myocardial occlusion. The donation was received from the Alabama Regional Organ and Tissue Center. Both corneas were taken for the Eye Bank, and the kidneys were harvested after consultation with us. An endotracheal tube that was already in position was double-clamped at full inspiration. Special care was taken to ligate all vessels during the immediate postmortem removal of the kidneys. Although an effort was made not to disturb other normal intraabdominal organs, some alteration of structures below the diaphragm can be noted.
