Abstract
I am grateful for the opportunity to comment on this interesting and enjoyable paper by Newman, Haynes, and Terzian (NHT). They have precisely described the main statistical issues underlying “Power Spectrum Analysis” in astrophysics, and with this setup, the ball is now in the statisticians’ court. While I generally endorse the views expressed by NHT, I do have some dissenting comments to make, and I shall mainly concentrate on them in this discussion.
