Part of the book series: Advances in Disease Vector Research ((VECTOR,volume 7))

Abstract

Mosquitoes represent the most important group of disease vectors, transmitting to both domestic animals and human beings a variety of pathogens including viruses, rickettsias, protozoas, and helminths. They act as a vector when the female takes a bloodmeal from an infected host and subsequently from a susceptible vertebrate host.
