Vectored Aircraft as R&D Tools, or as Super-Agile, Robotic Flying Systems
One of the most notable shifts in missile propulsion is currently from rocket, or rocket-ramjet power, to turbine power. Turbine power is now advancing in a number of technology fronts: RCC-Low-RCS (App. B); Counter-Rotating Propfans and propellers; advanced, yet extremely simple, low-cost, low-maintenance turbojet and turbofan engines (with and without TV); stealthy, high-range propulsion systems with very high terminal maneuverability (e.g., the anti-radar Tacit Rainbow missile).
