Distribution, Properties, and Management of Vertisols of India

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Advances in Soil Science ((SOIL,volume 8))

Abstract

Vertisols comprise a group of clay-textured soils that occur extensively in the tropics and temperate zones. They are synonymous with black cotton soils, black earths, dark clays, grumusols, and regurs of earlier classification systems (Dudal, 1965).
