Abstract

As in the earlier pages of this book, I return here to the perceptions of the child. For children, the pediatric exam represents a fresh, new experience during which the child has an unparalleled opportunity to explore the various alterations that are occurring within his or her body. In addition, through empathic conversations with the pediatrician, the child can inquire about the normative processes of development that cause, from the child’s perspective, amazing and inexplicable changes in physiological and psychological status.
