The Role of Medical Management in the Treatment of Endometriosis

Abstract

Endometriosis is second only to uterine fibroids as the most frequent cause of surgical procedures in premenopausal women.1 The disease can be diagnosed and its extent can be evaluated only at the time of surgical exploration via laparoscopy or laparotomy. Surgery, therefore, has traditionally been the principal method of treatment.
