Abstract
This potentially devastating disease can be found in most areas of the world. It is believed that more than one billion sufferers exist in North and South America, Australia, and Asia. It is also found in Europe to such an extent that at least 50 percent of the population of Italy is said to have toxoplasmosis, but because the infection often remains subclinical, it often is unrecognized.
