Abstract

Surgery for morbid obesity is more than a particular operation or a refinement of technique. It is a comprehensive approach to patient management from preoperative education to continuing care through the postoperative period, and ideally, for the patient’s lifetime. Without this type of commitment, results will not be optimal, and the incidence of failure excessive.
