The Care and Management of Spinal Cord Injuries

Abstract

Rehabilitation is a long, drawn out program in which there is a great need for long-term nursing support and supervision after discharge from hospital. Two levels of home nursing care are needed in the community. In the home, the spinal paralyzed patient may require assistance with the activities of daily living, for which, a large domiciliary or home nursing service is required. Registered nurses usually maintain the patient in the home environment.
